Welcome to the second installment of our 10-part series inspired by Steven Pressfield’s The War of Art. In our first article, we explored the concept of Resistance, the unseen force that thwarts our best efforts to create and achieve. Today, we’ll delve deeper into recognising how Resistance manifests in our daily lives. By identifying its signs, we can take the first steps toward overcoming it.

The Subtle and Not-So-Subtle Signs of Resistance

Resistance is a master of disguise. It often hides in plain sight, making it challenging to recognise. Here are some common ways Resistance can show up:

1. Procrastination

Procrastination is perhaps the most recognisable form of Resistance. It’s the voice that tells you, “I’ll start tomorrow,” and then tomorrow never comes. Pressfield writes, “Procrastination is the most common manifestation of Resistance because it’s the easiest to rationalize. We don’t tell ourselves, ‘I’m never going to write my symphony.’ Instead, we say, ‘I am going to write my symphony; I’m just going to start tomorrow.’”

How to Recognise It:

  • You keep delaying tasks that are important to your goals.
  • You find yourself doing less…
