How to Overcome the Negativity of Others

I am not from a family of creatives. I don’t have artists, writers and philosophers in my family tree. Those types of people who are generally creative and abstract thinkers who are driven to create and innovatively express themselves in the world. I on the other hand come from a family where we have all gone into human services professions. Those that directly help the community with needs such as health and education. Teachers, Nurses, Nursing Home carers. These are tremendously noble and admirable professions that if not in place in our society it would surely struggle to maintain its current start.

I always thought that I was cut from the same cloth. I had never thought any differently about my career path of trying to become a Doctor, I never had any need to question it and no one around me questioned that path either.

No one is going to question you if you are doing the same as them. You are also unlikely to question yourself if you are not exposed to alternative ideologies.

What creates questions in this case is going down a path unnatural to the questioner, for it has one of two effects. It can either make them curious about what you are pursuing and thus worried that they are missing out on something that they hadn’t considered.
