If You Haven’t Cried Yet, You Haven’t Written Enough

“I was moved to tears when I wrote this” A moment such as this is to be aspired to.

If you haven’t cried at the reading of your prose you have not written enough to mean anything.

Let me show you why.

The art of writing and the expression that it allows you to convey through the written word externally is powerful. It's moving moving ability that we as humans are lucky enough to possess through our use of the written word.

Have you dived into your heart mind and soul if you haven’t found your eyes swelling with tears or come to a complete standstill while composing the thoughts in your mind? That act of being more by your ability to express yourself on paper is a glorious and humbling feeling that is a joy to experience and in my eyes a write of passage for all writers whether that be published to massive audiences or in journals to the audience of one.

If you don’t know exactly what I mean here are some examples:

  • For Sale: Baby Shoes, Never Worn — Ernest Hemingway
  • Joyful hearts and open arms welcome the newest laughter to our home, as the tiny feet across the threshold promise a future filled with love.
  • Quiet echoes fill the home where laughter once lived, the rooms now empty…
