The 5 Ways To Make Your Writing Authentic

After over three years of writing on this platform. I was immensely inconsistent and my writing style demonstrated that.

I am taking the month of April to change that. I have posted 21 articles in the first 16 days of this month.

I gave myself a few guidelines for how to approach my posting on medium:

  • Write about anything that comes to mind
  • Any hesitation to publish means that I must do so
  • The length of the post doesn’t matter
  • Try and be me in my writing

Approaching this period of writing gave me permission write in a way that was freeing and limited my expectations. In hindsight it also allowed me to experiment with different titles, formats and styles of styles.

In doing this experimentation I have so far identified 5 characteristics that has made my writing authentic and practical which has correlated to improved engagement:

  1. Relatable Struggles
    My attempts to discuss universal themes like hard work, sacrifice, and the relentless nature of pursuing goals. Many readers are likely to find these themes relatable, as they mirror the common human experience of striving toward personal and professional milestones.
