Your Cold Pitch Emails Should Be Like a Coffee Shop Conversation: Genuine, Comfortable, and Unembarrassed

Crafting a cold pitch email can be daunting. We have all been in the position when we know that we are being pitched too.

It can go 1 of 2 ways, you either have a squirmy feeling in your gut telling you that someone is trying to get something from you or you start to build a rapport with someone and then before you know it you are being supported into making a decision.

Ultimately, the goal is to capture the recipient’s attention and convey your message effectively without coming across as pushy or insincere. One effective strategy is to write your cold pitch emails as if you were having a relaxed conversation at a coffee shop. If you wouldn’t be comfortable saying it out loud, it’s likely the email will come off as awkward or forced.

If you look back on a stilted formal conversation, it can feel lifeless and cold. I like many of you would leave that conversation either in person or via email not feeling great about the interaction.
